New Sun Moon Kindergarten, Ampang

With its headquarters in Cheras, New Sun Moon Kindergarten (NSM) preschool was established with a noble mission of providing exceptional early education for little ones during the most rapid learning period of their lives. The preschool boasts three branches, one each in Ampang, Cheras and Bangsar South respectively, with plans underway for more branches to be set up.

It was founded a decade ago by Ms Sammion Loo, and has been thriving ever since. Kiddy123 had the most delightful encounter with one of its principals, Ms Lilian, who incidentally heads one of the branches, and here are some of what we’ve uncovered about the popular preschool.

With a keen interest in children’s early education, founder Ms Sammion started out providing tuition for primary school children with intentions of helping them excel in their studies. It wasn’t too long before she was drawn to the idea of opening up a preschool to help little ones prepare for primary school and have a more successful schooling journey ahead of them. And that was when NSM came to be! However, with countless preschools mushrooming about the state and country, what makes NSM stand out?

It’s all in the teaching approach

At NSM, a thematic approach is used, and with profound management, these themes are kept interesting to enthrall young minds and keep them focused on their learning adventures. Each month, a new theme will be introduced, and within that, there will be weekly sub-themes as well, and the result is this robust curriculum which kids love.

With the understanding that very young children learn through play, NSM offers lots of enjoyable activities for all three- to five-year-olds, allowing them the opportunity to move their bodies, explore their learning environment, and build their motor skills while they absorb and learn new things each day. It is also apparent that all youngsters of NSM emerge more skillful at various tasks and practical life skills and are also exceptionally disciplined for their age. These are attributed, of course, to the care and guidance of all the qualified teachers and staff at the well-known preschool. As shared by Ms Lilian, the teachers at NSM undergo regular training to upgrade their teaching as well as caregiving skills.

As they proceed to their preschool age (6 years old), students at NSM will receive the academic preparation they need to help them excel in their primary school life ahead. Academic subjects covered at NSM include Math, Science, English, Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin as well as Moral, and the lessons are taught using the preschool’s meticulously planned themes to help get the best out of each subject. Classrooms are kept small and manageable too, with a maximum of just 12 children in one classroom. This means that each child is more likely to receive the attention and guidance they need to excel. And the result? It is worth a mention at this point that parents of children who have attended NSM have noticed how easily their children have adapted to their primary school and are coping very well too.

Time well spent @ NSM

It is no secret that children thrive on good daily routines, and it is typically an enjoyable routine at NSM from the time the little ones clock in right up till it’s time to go home. While the older kids undergo their age-appropriate preschool education with entertaining and educational themed activities and games, the younger group are also cared for with their own set of activities to help them develop. At NSM, every effort is made to ensure that each child gets to participate in beneficial activities that are crucial for their growth and development. Guided by the preschool team of professional educators and caregivers, children learn to be independent, responsible, good natured and smart.

NSM also offers daycare services to families whose children have to stay back due to working parents and so on. These kids receive the best care possible, just as they would at home by their own families. They get to nap, eat, play, and participate in well-designed activities that help in their optimum development. Preschoolers are well-guided in their revision as well, allowing them a useful sense of continuity in their lessons. Needless to say, these kids also inevitably pick up useful practical life skills at a very young age, thanks to the loving guidance provided.

As a whole and complete early education provider, NSM also offers invigorating holiday camps with fun filled activities for the benefit of its students. There is also an annual Good Behavior Camp which features activities for kids with their parents.
