Parents in Puchong have recently been busy checking for info on Kiddy123 so our team decided to go on-site to help parents find the answer to the most frequently asked question: “What are the good kindergartens in my area?”

In selecting their teaching staff, Xue Yi and her team had taken pains to get teachers with a heart for children. Besides teaching Maths, English, BM and Chinese, Tadika Wawasan Melodi’s teachers and trainers incorporate moral values and leadership elements into the syllabus using HANKidz’s unique experiential learning methodology. The success of these programmes is seen in feedback by parents that the children really love coming to school, enjoy their time with their teachers, have become more independent, and have gained self-confidence. Children here enjoy much, much more than just a formal school setting. We visited the Computer Lab, with its ceiling-high glass windows that look out into the greenery outside (to relax their young eyes), and saw children using computer programmes to explore colours and shapes to compose their own designs, and to work on educational activities and games. In the Music Room, we saw tambourines, drums, castanets, maracas, triangles, etc., enough instruments to form a children’s band.
Outside visits are also organised to provide further exposure for the children. The children see how bread is made, how chocolate is produced, and what it means to be working in a factory. There is also a year-end canteen day when each child brings a specified amount of money to buy things from “shops” operated by the teachers. Ms Jessica explained, “This is when we teach them the value of money, and about problem solving and decision-making. When they have a limited budget, they have to calculate and learn decision-making — whether to buy that nice drink or that cute rubber. Of course, our teachers will be there to guide them.”
With all these extracurricular activities, plus additional facilities, i.e. swimming pool, gym, indoor and outdoor playgrounds, library, Multiple Intelligences Room, and Science Corner, this centre provides everything that a parent could wish for their child’s development.

Established in 1999, Tadika Anak Riang (Joyful Child Preschool) is a preschool that offers authentic Montessori education and enrichment activities for children between the ages of 3 to 6 years old. Located at Bandar Puchong Jaya, this school believes that every child deserves the freedom to explore and discover learning experience lead by themselves.
3 to 5-year olds here use Montessori apparatus to help them to focus and to train their young fingers before they progress to the pencil grip. When they are 6, Ms Juliet progresses them to more academic content, especially where languages are concerned. For English, phonics, words and phrases are taught; where Mandarin is concerned, the children learn the basic strokes and simple characters; for Bahasa Malaysia, alphabets, “sukukata”, and sentences are introduced. Story telling is also a key component in learning languages.
Living skills is incorporated into Ms Juliet’s syllabus together with sensorial programmes for the younger children where they learn by touching, listening, tasting, smelling and identifying colours and shapes. “I believe that learning living skills make children smarter. They are better able to relate to practical life and are more conscious of the world around them. We have a Cultural Room where the children have weekly “Show & Tell” sessions to talk about things around them. Another highlight for the children is project work. We take them for excursions twice a year, such as to the Ostrich Farm, where they are exposed to new experiences, new sights and sounds.
