This weekend is STEM Weekend!
This coming Saturday and Sunday, children will get the opportunity to mix science, creativity and fun!
Saturday, 15th Apr 1:30-2:3 0pm
Sunday, 16th Apr 3:30-4:30 pm
Lightning bugs, also known as fireflies, get their glow from bioluminescence. A chemical reaction in their bodies between oxygen, calcium, adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and the chemical luciferin in the presence of luciferase, a bioluminescent enzyme, causes them to light up. It’s a beautiful sight to see!
In this class, children will draw their bugs on a template and then add an electrical circuit to make the bug glow, just like a Firefly! Younger children will be able to draw the bug and be assisted to create the electrical circuit! Older children can do the full activity!
